Rudd government announces 2 new major prizes for literature

The new Rudd Government has unveiled exciting plans for 2 new major literary awards – the Prime Minister’s Literary Prize for fiction and non-fiction books. 

The annual awards which will start in 2007-08 will be amongst the richest in the literary world with a prize value of $100,000 tax free and will be run through Arts Minister Peter Garrett’s office as part of ‘Labor’s Priorities to Australia’s Future’.
