The Man Booker Prize 2007

Friday, August 10th, 2007

The Man Booker Prize has announced it’s longlist for the year, and provoked quite a bit of surprise within the industry. In the past, if literary heavyweights like JM Coetzee, Michael Ondaatje, Graham Swift or Doris Lessing even thought about releasing a novel, it would at least make the longlist of nominations. Not so this year: the aforementioned authors have all had titles out in time for the award, but instead the judges have released a longlist that’s been called ‘giant-killing’ for it’s lack of big names. Ian McEwan is the only ‘name’ author on there, and he’s since been tipped as the favourite.

For the complete list, check out the Man Booker website.
