News: Pulitzer Prizes Awarded

The book-related winners of this year’s Pulitzer Prizes included Cormac McCarthy for his post-apocalyptic novel, The Road.

The prize is US$10,000, but only American writers are eligible. Other nominees in the category were Alice McDermott, for After This,  and Richard Power for The Echo Maker.

Acclaimed novelist Kurt Vonnegut, author of Slaughterhouse Five, Cat’s Cradle and Breakfast of Champions, has died aged 84.
